Minamino Shuichi | Youko Kurama

Kurama’s perfected the art of the serenely stony smile. Being overly complicated, he’s ridiculously thorough about everything he does, analyzing and perfecting every attack mentally a thousand different ways before finally executing it, then coming down hard on himself for any perceived error. He’s polite, level-headed, analytical, wry, cut-throat when backed into a corner and highly difficult to enrage. His is a cold anger, carried out in exact, precise ways rather than the fiery temper of his usual companions Yusuke and Hiei. He can be completely ruthless and without mercy to anyone who poses himself or his friends/family a threat. On the flip-side of that he’s unquestionably self-sacrificing when it comes to his mother and companions, and usually takes more damage than anyone due to just that when fighting. Instead of rushing blindly into a situation, Kurama’s the one that steps back and works out a strategy, even split-second as sometimes the case. He never goes forward without a plan, and is calculating to a fault. To summarize his entire personality into just one word, he’s “analytical.” It’s unknown if his Youko side and his human-Shuichi side are two separate entities, but due to the sake of personal preference, as a player I tend to blend the two in and intertwine them.

He teases Hiei relentlessly throughout the series, and has a mild and charming sense of humor, occasionally sharp comments smoothed over with a bright smile or wave of the hand. When he teases, he manages to say things with such a polite tone and manners that’s very near condescending, but hardly ever comes across as being so – and when it is, it’s often hard to prove as such the case. He’s clever and often, he veils his teasing behind seemingly benign remarks, and he’s a king of the double entendre. While he’s strong and adept in battle, he relies more on his brain rather than his brawn, since his stamina is impeded by human limitations. He doesn’t thrive on fighting, but he occasionally seems to enjoy it, though his methods are to dispatch of an enemy with quick efficiency unless they manage to royally piss him off (which has happened, but very rarely.) He seems to like being under-estimated and uses that to his advantage. As Shuichi he’s enrolled in Meioh Private High School and has excellent marks, and quite the fanclub following both for his good looks and seemingly perfect personality.
